Barbados Cherry: A Tropical Delight

Embrace the tropical allure of the Barbados Cherry, a fruit tree that brings a touch of the West Indies and Central America to your garden. Known scientifically as Malpighia punicifolia or M. glabra, this member of the Malpighiaceae family is a versatile addition to any plant collection.

Standing proudly at an average height and width of 12 feet, the Barbados Cherry is a compact yet productive tree. It’s a fast grower that can be easily trained into a standard form or shaped into a lush, bushy hedge, making it a flexible choice for different garden layouts.

The Barbados Cherry is celebrated for its fruit, which is sweet with a hint of tartness, reminiscent of the vibrant Latin American juices it’s often used in. But the appeal of this fruit goes beyond its taste. Each cherry is a powerhouse of nutrition, packed with more Vitamin C than a dozen oranges! Whether you’re making jellies, jams, or freezing them for later, these cherries retain their Vitamin C content, offering a healthful treat whenever you need it.

The tree thrives in warm climates and shows a commendable resilience to cold, withstanding temperatures as low as 28°F. It’s a hardy plant that rewards your care with a generous harvest. The Florida Sweet variety, in particular, is known for its abundant yield from May to November, with sporadic production throughout the rest of the year.

So why wait? Add the Barbados Cherry to your garden and enjoy the dual benefits of its beauty and bounty. This tree is now available for purchase at our nursery. Bring home a Barbados Cherry today and step into a world of tropical wonder right in your backyard! ????

No Freeze Warranty: We do not guarantee plants shipped during freezing conditions. Shipping in cold weather is at the buyer’s discretion and risk.
